Using Predict
Predict is my newest and most flexible web-enabled application. With Predict you can run money line odds, point spread odds, over/under odds, and money line parlays on your favorite sports. The list of supported sports includes NFL, MLB, NBA WNBA, NCAAFB, and NCAABK and I will be adding more such as NHL in the future. The tool allows you to specify configuration variables that control the prediction algorithm so you can fine-tune it however you like. I maintain a database for each sport with a history of game statistics and book odds, so you don't have to do any tedious data entry. You just enter your teams and odds then click on run and the program does the work for you!
The output of the program includes a prediction of who will win the game, the predicted point spread, the predicted score, and the percent chance of winning followed by recommendations on wagers. The wagers are money line, point spread, over/under, and money line parlay. The program also makes its own predictions on the games in the database without peeking at the actual score, then it checks the actual score to evaluate how well it did in predicting the games of the past. The succes rates and profits are calculated and reported in plain english sentences so you can evaluate how good the program is at that wager of that sport.
You can go back to the main screen and change your control variables over and over until you are pleased with your results (though the provided control variables are pretty good). Finally, Predict outputs a table with useful information like rating, home team advantage, average points per game, win-loss-draw record, success percentage, predicted average success percentage, and the error between those percentages.
