Free SoftwareAnd then nothing happens. Why? Because Predict Games is computing and it will send its output to you in about 30 seconds on most machines, faster or slower depending on the speed of your computer. Why does it take so long? There are thousands of games in the database and the algorithms in Predict Games requires that it re-examine the entire database over and over and over again. But you want that, because that's the special sauce that gives you the edge in your gambling adventure. After waiting you should be richly rewarded with a detailed stream of information that scrolls up your screen. What does it all mean? Well, it starts with some sentences about who will win and the percent chance of winning. That percentage is usually a very good estimate, so you can use it to build fixed point odds parlays. It's based on the mathematics of Arpad Elo, so its statistically accurate according to the rating system. Next you will see some sentences that make wager recommendations. These recommendations are based on control variables in the program itself. You can read the documentation on the free software page to get a feel for how these control variables work, and then edit them if you like. What follows that is a ratings list sorted with best team first so you can do team rankings and also get a feel for how strong the teams are. The ratings are set up mathematically so that if two teams have a rating difference of 400 points then the favorite has a 90.9% chance of defeating the underdog. Equally rated teams would each have a 50% chance of winning. Finally, you get a table listing each team with the following statistics: home team advantage, away team advantage, number of games played, average point spread, offensive strength, defensive strength, and rating. In this program the home team advantage is listed as minus being good and plus being bad by convention. For away team advantage, which is kind of a silly statistic but its the mathematical reverse of the home team advantage so i programmed it anyway, plus is good and minus is bad. Offensive and defensive strengths are both good plus and bad minus. Thats it! I hope you've enjoyed this introduction to my little program. Good luck and happy wagering! |
