That's all I need to do to run the program, right? Just get Perl, right? Not exactly. The graphics output files of the program, should you choose to view them, require POV-Ray, which is also free. POV-Ray runs on Unix, Mac, Windows, and Solaris. You can get it from www.povray.com. POV-Ray is a photorealistic renderer so you can also use it to make pretty pictures and even animations. In fact, some of Predict_Games.prl's output files can be viewed either as an image or as a rotating movie. You don't need to learn much at all about running POV-Ray, just open up an output file (*.pov) and render it. See the POV-Ray website for some very well written documentation on how to run it.

You also need to get... just kidding, that's all you need. Just Perl and maybe POV-Ray if you want graphics. For the time being I am only distributing the sample data files of one sport with the Predict Games program. So your choices are to use the web front-end for the sports that I support (right now that's NFL, MLB, NBA, WNBA, NCAAFB, and NCAABK), use your sample data file and update it with a text editor, or create your own data file(s).

OK, OK, enough of that, let's talk about how you run the program. Open up a command line window (that's a DOS window for Windows users), go to the directory where you unzipped Predict Games and type the following.

perl Predict_Games.prl < NCAAFB_Scores.txt
