Free Software

Free means free and my free software is just that: free. It has a strong game prediction algorithm including the rock-solid ELO system and some fancy smoke and mirrors I created myself. In the past year I have more than doubled my money using this software and you can too. To get an easy introduction to the power of Predict_Games, my free software package. It's a web front-end for the software that allows you to specify a sport, go to a data entry page where you can enter a game be it real or imagined plus the odds for that game, and then calculate the program's wager recommendations. There are instructions for running the web front end on the page.

Once you're happy with the web front end you are free to download the software by clicking on this link. The software is released under the GNU General Public License which means that it is completly free however there are some legal restrictions. You cannot package the software yourself and sell it as your own work. I own the copyright and the GNU GPL is a legally enforceable license so don't resell it. What you can do, however, is modify the source code in any way you like, you can give it to other people for free, and you can use the software to your heart's content without ever paying a dime. To read up on the GNU GPL, click here. When you download the software you will find a README.txt file which is very short so read it, the gnu_gpl.txt file which must be included with any distribution, the Predict_Games.prl program itself, and a sample database of sports scores and odds.

Now everything that's free is easy, right? Free goes with easy, right? Not exactly. To start with, it's a Perl program which means you need to have the Perl programming language installed on your machine to use it, but guess what - Perl is free too! If you are on a Unix machine or a newer Mac computer then your system already has Perl installed. If you are on Windows or an older Mac, then you must install Perl. I suggest you get Perl from www.perl.com , it's a fairly simple install but you will have to click on a few links to get to it and then specify your operating system.
