Site Status

I've had a lot of fun creating this site and the software that runs on it, and I hope you've gotten a lot out of it also. However, I'm taking a break until the 2008 Football season starts. That's when I'll run the Jacqueline program again and enter my Football prediction contests, posting picks each week. Until then you'll pardon me if some files are not currently updated or the predictions are old, I'll get back into the swing of things this Fall. Sorry for being out-of-commission, but I'm busy doing music programming these days and I'll get back to sports prediction in the fall. Enjoy.

Jacqueline Update

I just got done creating a name translation database for Jacqueline so that she can now predict NCAA Football! See below for more information.

My predictions are based on game statistics only and do not include injuries, weather, or the human element - so factor those in yourself.

There will be no more predictions until the 2008 Football season begins, at which time regular weekly picks from Jacqueline will appear here.

Jacqueline Update

It's the end of June at the time of this writing, and that means that Football season is just over a month away! I thought it would be a good idea to prepare things a bit early this year, so I dug into my files and started working with Jacqueline on doing some predictions.

The first thing I did was fix a little bug in PaperTest.PL which is a program that allows me to collect statistics on Jacqueline's prediction confidence factors so that I can tell which of Jacqueline's many predictions to actually believe. Once that was done, I created a sed file which acts as a name translation database for NCAA Football. This will enable Jacqueline to make college football predictions in addition to the NFL predictions. Finally, I did a somewhat skewed test of Jacqueline in NCAAFB using PaperTest.PL and found that she should be just as good at NCAAFB as she is at NFL.

At the end of last year's NFL season I created Jacqueline and she stormed onto the scene, making over 70% correct predictions against the spread consistently. This lasted for the final four weeks of the regular NFL season and it enabled me to win the RGS NFL contest as well as place 44th in the Vegas Insider contest (out of all the thousands of people who play in that competition). Jacqueline also scored over 70% in the post season and correctly predicted the Superbowl, although she warned not to bet on it, haha!

As we all know, no sports prediction system is perfect and they often vary significantly in performance from season to season. Although I have high hopes for Jacqueline in the 2008 NFL and NCAAFB seasons, I also recognize that it is quite possible that her astounding performance was nothing but a fluke, beginner's luck. But I tell you what, if I were a betting man I'd watch her performance for a few weeks and if it was good I'd put my money where her mouth is. Then again, that's just me, use your own judgement of course.

Regardless of whether you download "Predict Games", download "Predict", run "Predict" online, and/or make use of Jacqueline's picks, I'm sure you will find that your enjoyment of the 2008 Football season will be enhanced by the adventure of sports prediction.
